To find whether a veterinarian is registered and currently eligible to practise in New Zealand you may search the Register of Veterinarians.
 
The register provides information on the veterinarian's registerable qualification and their general area and name of their practice/employer, if known.
 
 
Finding a veterinary practice
 
We maintain a list of Veterinary practices and other organisations that employ veterinarians. You can search this list for veterinary practices by name or town, but you should also consider using the Yellow Pages.
 
 
Veterinary Specialist
 
A veterinary specialist is a registered veterinarian with an exceptionally high level of skill that is well above that of a practitioner in the same discipline. A specialist must have undergone extensive advanced supervised training, culminating in the passing of a rigorous set of examinations.
