Kia ora

Welcome to our pānui for veterinary specialists. We just have a short update for you this time, as we know what a busy time of year it is for veterinarians across the country.

Referral and consultation guidelines

VCNZ is currently developing a guideline for referrals and consultations, and we are keen to receive your feedback and ideas on some similar guidelines created by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), and what needs to considered for a New Zealand context.

Read the AAHA guidelines here: https://www.aaha.org/globalassets/02-guidelines/referral/aaha-referral-guidelines-2013

If you have any thoughts you would like to share with us, please email VCNZ Professional Advisor Seton Butler on [email protected]

Request for recent articles and resources

We’re on the lookout for any articles and resources that have recently been developed by New Zealand veterinary specialists.

If you’ve worked on something that you would like shared with other specialists, and we see it as helpful for raising veterinary standards, we may be able to circulate it in our pānui.

We also regularly publish pieces of technical guidance on The Hub, which can be useful when navigating specific issues in practice. If you have any ideas on pieces of guidance we could develop, that would be useful for the wider profession, we would also like to hear from you.
