Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
CPD is the process of acquiring, maintaining and enhancing the skills and knowledge needed for professional practice. All veterinarians must take part in CPD.
Our requirements for CPD changed in 2021. You can read the consultation page
for a quick summary of the research we did, the changes from the old system and the rationale behind them.
More information on the new system is set below.
CPD Information for veterinarians sets out the framework and what is expected.
New graduates in their first year of practice must have a mentor, and other veterinarians can choose to have one. A mentor can be a colleague in the workplace but we also offer a service that connects mentors with independent mentees. You can read more about it here.
